Short-Term Rentals refer to the temporary rental of residential accommodations, typically for periods of less than 90 consecutive days. There are two main categories of Short-Term Rentals:

Short-Term Rentals includes: Single Family Home, Secondary Suite, Duplex or Multi-Family, Accessory Dwelling Unit, Apartment

Short-Term Rentals – Strata Titled Hotel/Motel includes: If accommodation is provided in a manner like that of a hotel or motel and meets the conditions for exemption from the principal residence required related to strata-titled hotels or motels as prescribed under the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Regulations

Depending on the nature of your Short-Term Rental, you may be required to submit the following information as part of your business licence application. Please ensure you sign and have the applicable forms ready to upload with your application.

• Supporting Documents: Fire evacuation plan, Good Neighbour Agreement, Provincial Homeowner Grant (if applicable), Valid identification (e.g., driver’s licence), Fractional ownership agreement, Owner Consent form (If tenant is applying), Strata Council Consent Form

Important: A Building Permit is required for secondary suites. Please ensure a secondary suite assessment is completed before applying. Illegal suites may delay processing by over a month and require a permit to legalize. Failure to respond may lead to licence cancellation.

Note: There will be a non-refundable application fee (in addition to the Licence fee as calculated). The non-refundable application fee will be collected during the licence application process, with the remaining amount due online after you receive an approval email.
